Welcome to Ed Waymire's "Simplistic Prose"

(Simple Poems to Touch Your Heart)

Reviews
Here's an article from the East County Gazette, week of May 30. I think Gary Whiteside did an excellent job. Then again, I am kind of bias!

This Saturday at 12:00 noon you might want to drop by the “Somewhere Else” Bookstore at 330 N. Magnolia for an introductory book signing party for one of your neighbors. If you’ve ever attended the Concerts on the Green at the Prescott Promenade during the summer over the last 4-5 years you’ve no doubt gotten to know Ed Waymire. He has served as the MC for these concerts for 4 of the last 5 years. You’ve come to know his friendly banter and his friendly attitude that makes you feel as though you’ve always been friends with him. Last year I was told about another side of Ed that wasn’t so obvious. Let me give you a little background here. At the ripe old age of 17 Ed started writing poetry. He wrote for around 10 years and for various reasons put that piece of himself away thinking he was finished with that part of his life and had left it behind. But he kept the manuscripts and on rare occasions, shared them with those closest to him. Over 30 years later the inspiration and motivation returned. While walking with a close friend, two butterflies landed on Ed’s shoulder. After resting there for a moment, they flew away, only to return once again. The friend told Ed that she had a very clear feeling that he was going to write again. And shortly afterwards (3 days!) he felt a familiar urge, put fingers to the keyboard, and wrote his first recent poem just 2 years ago. Since that moment he has continued to write and now has had a collection of his writings published in a book entitled “Simplistic Prose, Simple Poems to Touch Your Heart”. In case you didn’t know it, Ed Waymire was recently named as Poet Laureate by the International Society of Poetry. This honor is granted to those who are acknowledged as either very prominent or upcoming new poets. These short poems are all inspired by moments and people that have touched Ed’s heart. And they will touch yours as well. Of course it helps to have had Ed talk about the motivation and inspiration for some of them, others are obvious from the title. Having had a “re-awakening” of sorts myself of loves long thought gone, I can relate to the powerful emotions that instead of having been lost, have only been put away until the time was right for them to return. This collection of poems (the sub-title “Simple Poems to Touch Your Heart” is quite accurate) will open a window to the soul of a truly unique and caring man who I am proud to call my friend. You should also know that ALL the proceeds of the book will go to local charity organizations. The Crossroads Foundation (a women’s alcohol & drug rehab program), the El Cajon Valley Host Lion’s Club, and the El Cajon Community Development Corporation will be the beneficiaries of this latest chapter of Ed’s life. If you have time; stop by, meet a new “old friend”, and pick up a copy of Simplistic Prose to touch YOUR heart.

Here's what a few kind Poet Laureates from the International Society of Poetry have to say about my book.

"You say exactly what you need to say to let us know what you mean. That's what it is all about. Very good work!"
